Background Info:
History:
Having lived 93 years, Tori has been through many things that shape her into the woman she is today. From birth until she was fifteen, she was raised in South Africa with her parents. Her style of living was very different from keonai in Europe, Asia, or the Americas, for in order to find water she either had to race to a watering hole or take the water from various bugs and plants. Her parents lived under the constant fear of being mistaken for leopards, as they were very familiar with the presence of European poachers searching for their fur. Luckily, she learned to disguise herself very young, for she enjoyed dressing up in the clothes of the poachers who died from various diseases and forms of dehydration and very quickly picked up their accent. These methods allowed her to sell fur and various bits of animals she salvaged from vultures in return for canteens of water. This effectively allowed her family to live happily in the oppressive dryness of the plains, but her methods of disguise were not only good for sales. Her life was saved by the poacher clothing when one day she was mistaken for a leopard and dragged through the tall grasses in their clothes. Once they saw her, she immediately played them and accused them of trying to murder her in order to disorient them and cause them to believe that she was one of them. Her disguise worked so effectively, that the poachers took her in, assuming that her skin color was due to an African disease, and offered to let her join their expedition. She pretended that she was stranded out in the Serengeti after her family abandoned her, and the men determined that they would take her to Europe with them after their hunt was over.
At age fifteen, she was brought to Europe and raised in Britain during the Great Depression. Here, she was surrounded by famine and a lack of hope and was greatly disturbed by it. For weeks on end, she would travel between the countries to try to find one that wasn't struggling, and amidst her adventures she found more of her own kind. They were confused to find her in the state that she was, for she was fully dressed in the fashions typical of that time. Apparently, after World War I, the group of keonai that she had met had lost their homes in the strife, and she worked to help them rebuild little by little. From her life in British society, she was able to bring water, blankets, and other supplies over from her "foster family", and in return they gave her candy points. She had never seen these odd points before and didn't exactly recognize their purpose, but she noticed that they were delectable and sweet. In order to cheer up little children starving on the streets, she would offer them the points and gained immense joy from their happiness. Little did she know that this would lay down the foundation for her future business.
In her twenties, World War II rocked the foundation of her world. While she recognized that something went terribly wrong with Germany following the First World War, it was the second that really opened her eyes to the horrible state her continent was in. Frightened by the violence, she fled from country to country in search of one that wasn't fighting. Her constant traveling allowed her to meet multiple keonai, including Kyrune. She met Kyrune up in the mountains and was greeted by a haughty scoff. She learned then that her fashion sense was beyond atypical, it was unheard of. No keonai dressed completely like a human; the very thought was preposterous. Following this meeting, she progressively wore less and less every time she met another keonai and very soon began to do the same with the humans she met. Because her end of the globe was filled with catastrophe, she somehow hitched her way to America by plane and lived there for the next thirty years.
In America, her business boomed due to her ability to find work now that all of the mens' jobs were handed off to the women. She worked multiple jobs on and off for a while until she found her place amidst the artist community. As the sixties and seventies came around, she was embraced for being different, and she found herself being able to wear what she considered to be next to nothing as a form of "artistic expression". However, as her period of acceptance dwindled, she realized how much she missed her own people and got a flight back to Europe with the intent of seeing familiar keonai faces again.
Her journey continued onto Germany where she found an excellent place to set up shop. Now that it was far easier to ship packages long distances, she was able to send supplies to makeshift shopkeepers who had their own setups amongst the keonai. Once the Candy Points returned to her, she found that the German children were more than happy to have a place to go to get sweet treats. Her disguises picked back up again as she soon learned that her competitor in candy distribution was a hunter-based family, but the profit she collected from the store allowed her to continue her business. While technology continued to advance and telecommunications picked up, she eventually found that she was able to continue her work amongst her people as opposed to being amongst the humans.
After receiving a very concerning message from one of the elders explaining the danger the keonai were in, she moved to Vietnam to live amongst them. Her fashion sense still reflects that of the places she's been, but in her well-functioning exchange she promises to always have a constant stock of products on hand.
